Kingston Stock Transportation drivers and mechanics on Strike

03-28-2009

 21 :22 EST

Kingston Stock drivers and mechanics lead the charge for fair wages in the school bus industry  across Canada. Stock has a mutli-national parent Company better known as National Express. Stock pays drivers an average of $10.77 per hour, while the Company reported approximately $60,000,000.00 profit in North America during 2008.

These Members voted 93% (drivers) and 100% (mechanics) in favour of strike action last Monday, and immediately exercised their legal rights. Stock left them no choice, and approximately 7200 students are currently left without rides to and from school on a daily basis. Today, a worker rally was held, further strengthening the solidarity between the Members. “Their efforts are admirable and  they  make me proud to be a Teamster.  ” Stated Local 91 President Brian MacDonald.  The strike is on its fourth day as of March 27, 2009.
