Ballots for ratification of TCRCMWED/ CP Contract

05-02-2010

 10 :00 EST

Brothers and Sisters,

On April 10th, 2010, we signed a tentative agreement with CPRail. A copy of this tentative agreement was posted on the website at: http://www.teamsters.ca/en/news/1386/memorandum_of_settlement_at_cp

For the last few weeks we have been working at putting together the package which would be mailed out with the ballots, as well as having all documents accurately translated.  The package that all eligible members should receive will contain:

  • a brief breakdown of the agreement.
  • a copy of the Memorandum of Agreement in its entirety.
  • an explanation of the 'Prescription card'.
  • a ballot for the Memorandum of Settlement, with instructions.
  • a ballot for the 'Prescription card', with instructions.
  • a return envelope for your ballots, with instructions.
  • a list with contact information for the TCRCMWED Executive Board.

The mailing began on Friday April 30th and all packages should be in the mail by Monday May 3, 2010. If you, or anyone you know, has not received a ballot by May 12th, 2010, please contact our office at 1 800 567 0571.  We will check your address and send another one out to you, cancelling the numbers for your original ballot to prevent duplicate votes.

Brothers and Sisters, this is democracy in action.  This is your right and your responsibility to be heard on the issues that affect and shape your lives.  It is a simple process and we encourage everyone to be actively involved in it.

Read the documents, make an informed decision.... then MARK YOUR BALLOTS and MAIL THEM BACK.

The reason there are two ballots (one for the agreement and one for the prescription card) is because the 'prescription card' has a cost attached to it. All of this is explained in the letter that will be with that ballot. Whatever you vote on the 'prescription card' ballot will have no effect on the Memorandum of Agreement ballot and vice/versa. They are both 'stand alone' and will be counted separately.

The latest return date for all ballots will be May 27, 2010. The ballots will be counted on May 28, 2010 and the results will then be released.

Rock the vote, Brothers and Sisters.

Stay safe, stay strong, stay united,

Bill Brehl
