Contract with CP ratifies by landslide...

Brothers and Sisters,

I am pleased to announce that the recent contract at CP, signed April 10th, 2010, has now been ratified by an overwhelming majority of the ballots returned. There was a 38.5% return of ballots sent out, with none spoilt.

As you are aware, there were two (2) separate ballots sent to eligible members. The first ballot was for the ratification of the Memorandum of Settlement.

Of the ballots returned, 92% voted in favour of accepting the contract.

The second ballot was for a prescription card pilot project. This was a 'stand alone' vote and this issue did not affect the contract ratification.

Of the ballots returned, 58% voted in favour of accepting the prescription card.

We believed that this was a great contract, in spite of the tough economic times and you have now officially confirmed that opinion. Thank you.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to the TCRCMWED negotiating committee members ... Wade Phillips, Gary Doherty, Ross Terry and David Brown for their hard work and dedication.

We will begin dealing with the implementation next week and I will keep you up to date as that progresses.

For more information on the settlement itself, please see:  http://www.teamsters.ca/en/news/1396/ballots_for_ratification_of_tcrcmwed-cp_contract

Once again, thank you for your assistance, your support and your solidarity.

Stay safe, stay strong, stay united.
