CN shortline agreements in the Atlantic Region

06-04-2010

 11 :34 EST

Brothers and Sisters,

Over the last few months, Director Dellaporta and LC LaGace have been negotiating with CN on behalf of our 38 (forty) members on 3 (three) shortlines in the Atlantic region.

There were wage, benefit and workrule changes achieved, many that are better than those on the CN mainline.

Because of the limited number of employees and the relatively contained geography, Brother Dellaporta was able to speak with all members affected. Below is Anthony's own words as to how that went.

Congratulations Anthony and Stephane for doing such excellent work.

Stay safe, stay strong, stay united,

Bill Brehl

Bill,

I am pleased to announce that the recent contract at CFMG OCR & NBEC (CN), signed May 18th, 2010, has now been ratified by an overwhelming majority of the ballots returned. There was a 100% return of ballots...

Of the ballots returned, 100% voted in favour of accepting the contract

To give you a break down of the 3 short lines

The Ottawa Central Railway (OCR) runs from Pembroke to Ottawa and then from Glen Robertson to L’Orignal and Hawkesbury Ontario there are 7 members working for the OCR

The Chemin de fer de la Matapedia et du Golfe (CFMG) runs from Riviere-du-Loup to Mont-Joli then from Mont-Joi-li to Matane and Mont-Joi to Campbellton N.B there are 15 members working for the CFMG

The New Brunswick East Coast (NBEC) runs from Campbellton to Moncton there are 16 members working for the NBEC

I want to express my sincere appreciation to Stephane Lagace for his hard work, dedication support and the solidarity of all the members of CFMG OCR & NBEC.

We would need to finalize on how the company will bulletin all permanent positions for their flexibility and address any other questions related to the bulletining the positions.

Thanks,

Anthony Della Porta
