Welcome!

Dear Brother and Sister,

Union: a number of persons, states, etc., joined or associated together for some common purpose.

As we begin a new era in 2006, the transformation is essentially complete, and the stage has been set for an exciting future at Local 91. The day to day grassroots interaction with our Membership has brought out a team spirit and a united front. By simple definition, we have common purposes and intangible elements that bind us all – we are Teamsters.

As Teamsters of Local 91, we went to Parliament Hill to support a Private Members Bill from one of our Sisters for fallen workers who die on the job each year. Our Teamsters responded to a Community in need when a ‘state of emergency’ was declared in Mattawa earlier this year. Our Teamsters came together from many of our different companies and built a foundation for ourselves. H.O.M.E. 91 (Helping Our Members Everywhere) was established this year – a facet where Brothers and Sisters united for a common goal – the proceeds established a fund to help Members in their time of need or tragedy. Over 5000.00 dollars was raised by a proud group of Local 91 Teamsters who took time from their busy schedule to golf. I sincerely thank the Committee Members for their time, both now and in the future as they administer the fund. To the brave golfers, we could not have done this without you!

Many challenges lie ahead for our Members, many of the goods or purchases we make have a Teamsters influence on them. It is that very element and bond which makes it imperative that we support the Union movement, and choose where we spend our hard earned ‘Union contract’ dollars. Simple necessities like groceries for example help drive this Union, and together we must actively support ourselves and shop where Teamsters directly or indirectly help move the goods.

On the organizing front, we have become active in organizing to grow our Local – your Local. We have applied to certify a group of Dynamex employees who left Teamsters Local 91 in 2002/2003. A revitalized commitment to our Members has turned their attention and interest back to the Local. Good things are transpiring and the word is on the street. We all play a role in growing this Local Union – whether through word of mouth or our daily interactions. Many organizing projects are underway, and the sky is the limit.

I remain excited with the task at hand and personally invite each and every Member to become an active and dynamic participant in our future. We share a common purpose and there in lies the strength of the many. That strength is the catalyst which will drive us to a better future for us all. Support our Brothers and Sisters of Teamsters Local Union 91 for the world is a big place, and we all need a friend from time to time.
